New Jersey - Top State to Raise Kids

Is NJ Tax Reform Working?

Over the weekend, the Star Ledger released a Special Report, "Did N.J. property tax reform help most taxpayers?"  According to the article, "New Jersey homeowners paid an average of 2.4 percent more for property taxes in 2011, the smallest increase in nearly two decades, showing Gov. Chris Christie’s push to restrain local levies might be working."  This is good news for many New Jersey residents who pay some of the highest property taxes in the nation.  [...]

Average home prices rise, but not here...

Inman News recently reported the top 10 metro areas where the median home prices had increased year over year, based on statistics from Zillow.  Notably, not only were none of the top 20 populated metro areas in the top 10 for appreciation, but neither were any metro areas from the Northeast in the top 10, save Pittsburgh (which tends to be considered more Mid-West).  Yet, we have reason to be positive, because as some areas recover, others will follow. In Middlesex County, accordi [...]

There are many homes in Middlesex County th [...]

Foreclosures Delinquency Rate on the Decline

Some good news on the foreclosure front.  It seems that the rate of foreclosure delinquencies is on the decline.  Part of the reason this is significant is because these properties tend to drag property values down.  As painful as it is, we need these properties to work through the process in order to have a recovery in our local markets in Central Jersey.  The fact that there are fewer delinquencies is a hopeful sign of better things to come. While national statistics ar [...]
