A Little Nostalgia about “Lucky Acres”…

Wade Ray raised and sold Tennessee Walker Horses and Saddlebreds, the farm “Lucky Acres” was named after one of his first horses Lucky.  Through the years they also bred and raised Irish Setters.

There were two daughters that grew up there.  They moved there when Laurie was 10, when she was 21 she got married and moved into the smaller back house with her new husband…they then built the house next door (larger neighboring house with pool) and she lived there until about 4 years ago.  She raised her 3 daughters there and it was nice because the grandparents were next door.

When Laurie was a child they would fish and ice skate on the pond there.  Laurie was the “Official Ice Tester”…her father, Wade would send her out to the middle of the pond with a rope tied around her waist…she would jump up and down and see if it would crack.

The home and property was the scene for a menagerie of animals from snapping turtles brought into the house from the pond to dogs, horses, etc.
